Certainly. All notes you receive are your property to help improve your work, enter contests or share with others. Consider this a vital training ground for your future professional screenwriting career.
Tokens, on this platform, are the non-monetary reward system for giving script notes. Every member is a writer. Every member is also a potential reader. You earn tokens by giving thoughtful, structured feedback on someone else’s script. If you want more tokens to offer a reader for notes on your own script, you must first review another member’s script and earn tokens from that writer for the notes you give. That balance is what keeps Peer 2 Peer Script Notes running — and what keeps the notes worth reading.
Not at this time. But that doesn’t mean nothing can be done. We take harassment seriously; if you have concerns about a specific member, report them to our team so we can step in and ensure you and your work stay safe.
We do not allow scripts that promote hate, harassment, pornographic or explicit real-world harm. We also do not endorse horror for mental, spiritual and societal health reasons, so please do not submit horror scripts to the platform.
Yes, as long as all credited writers agree to share the script on the platform. Only one account will be linked to the submission, so decide together who will manage tokens and notes.
Yes, as long as you still have the right to share the material for feedback and it follows our content guidelines. Peer 2 Peer Script Notes is about improving craft, not selling or shopping your script.
No. You can upload a revised draft once your current round of notes is complete. This keeps readers on the same version and makes sure feedback stays clear and consistent. If your script hasn’t been claimed for notes yet by another member, you can remove your submission and submit again with an updated version.
The sky’s the limit… kind of… you’re limited by how many tokens you have available. For instance, if you’ve earned 5 tokens from giving meaningful notes to other members and you’ve submitted two scripts to the Script Exchange for notes, offering 2 tokens for notes on one and 3 tokens for notes on the other, you cannot then submit a third script for notes because your token bank is now at 0. You will have to first earn more tokens by giving notes to another member.
We accept PDFs of feature screenplays, pilots (half-hour or hour-long), shorts, audioplays, and manuscript chapters. Script drafts should use industry formatting (12pt Courier-style font, proper margins).
Every script is given a film-style content rating when it is uploaded:
For more information, see the filmratings.com ratings guide.
Writers also tick every content warning that applies, grouped under Violence / Abuse / Trauma (Abuse; Animal Death and Cruelty; Hate/Discrimination/Oppression; Medical Trauma; Real-World Trauma; Suicide/Self Harm; War and Genocide Trauma), Sex / Children (Sexual Violence; Sex; Pro-Life; Pro-Abortion; Pregnancy/Childbirth; Sexual Identity Pro Non-Heterosexual; Sexual Identity Pro-Heterosexual) and Other (Derogatory Language; Foul Language; Disturbing), or “None” if nothing applies. Writers can also leave a short note of up to 100 words for their reader. Readers see the rating, warnings and note before they claim a script.
We do not host the horror genre for mental, spiritual and societal health reasons. If you require feedback on horror scripts, we suggest looking elsewhere, as we do not permit their submission to the Peer 2 Peer Script Notes platform.
If you feel a rating was unfair or retaliatory, please reach out to our support team. We review disputed ratings to ensure our community remains a fair, balanced, and respectful place for every writer.
Members can flag any notes that feel rushed, vague, or disrespectful. Repeatedly providing low-effort feedback can impact your standing or access to tokens. We celebrate thoughtful, specific feedback that genuinely helps writers grow.
Notes are due within 5 days to ensure momentum remains high. This allows enough time for a deep read while ensuring you aren’t waiting too long for a response.
If a reader misses the 5-day deadline, the assignment can be re-submitted for a new member to review and the original member’s account will get a strike against it. After three strikes, they are removed from the platform (without a refund). This keeps the exchange fair and reliable.
There are no take-backs on this platform. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Carefully choose to pass as many scripts as you want based on the logline, genre, content warnings, etc but once you’ve committed to giving notes on a script, be professional about it and follow through with your commitment. There is a writer on the other end of your commitment eagerly waiting for your notes; it is disheartening when they wait 5 days and those notes fail to be submitted or are vague, half-hearted feedback. We encourage you to always be respectful.
Yes. Within the Script Exchange, you can filter the available scripts by your preferences, including format (feature, pilot, short, audioplay or manuscript) and various genres.
To give fair and useful notes, you should read the full script. Would you want someone giving notes on your writing without first getting to that fantastic third act reveal?
Be specific, constructive and kind. Note what works well and what needs improvement, offering clear suggestions rather than insults or vague comments.
Minimum 300 words each on strengths and weaknesses for features and manuscript chapters; minimum 200 words each for pilots, shorts, and audioplays. An additional thoughts section is optional.
High-quality notes are specific and focus on story, structure and dialogue. Vague comments lead to a lower peer-noter rating. A higher rating allows you to select reviewers with stronger reputations to provide feedback on your own creative endeavours.
If you miss the 5-day deadline, your account will get a strike against it. After three strikes, you are removed from the platform (without a refund).
Member safety is our top priority. If you encounter a script or review note that feels threatening, hateful or unsafe, please report it immediately using the report buttons or our contact tools. Our team reviews all reports carefully and will take action, which may include removing the content or removing the member to protect the community.
AI-generated scripts and feedback are not supported. Real people have joined a community looking for helpful, honest feedback from real people.
Treat every writer with respect. Focus your feedback on the script, not the individual. No harassment, hate speech or personal attacks will be tolerated here.
Serious or repeated violations result in warnings, loss of Script Exchange access or permanent removal from the community, depending on the situation.
So the exchange of scripts and notes focuses on the artistic labour rather than the writer’s identity.
Identity protection depends on what you submit. Readers see whatever you include in the PDF. We suggest including your WGA registration number on the title page but omitting personal contact information.
No. Only logged-in members with active subscriptions see scripts, and only when they’ve elected to provide notes. Your work is never searchable or indexed for the public web.
Membership is paid securely by credit or debit card through Stripe when you join at checkout. Your $50 CAD annual fee is processed by Stripe, and your card details are never stored on our site.
There is no per-note cost. To participate, you must pay a small annual membership fee. However, the system runs on a peer-to-peer token economy, meaning you must first spend time helping others before receiving feedback yourself.
